Assembly Bill 448 (Daly) passed out of the Senate Governance & Finance Committee today. This bill would enable Orange County cities, businesses, non-profits, as well as the County of Orange to join together and create the Orange County Housing Trust. This trust will act as the financing mechanism we need to produce much needed permanent supportive housing.
The Orange County REALTORS® Board of Directors have decided to support AB 448 in order to assist lawmakers in addressing the needs of the Orange County homeless population. It is no secret that permanent supportive housing is the best way to address chronic homelessness. The support services provided at these facilities, combined with the housing aspect, are proven to be the best ways to help a homeless individual connect with employment, and ultimately their own housing.
